A NEW DIRECTION FORCONFIRMATION

We’re excited to share an important update about our Confirmation program! Beginning this Fall, we will be transitioning from a two-year Confirmation model to a three-year course of learning and faith exploration for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

This decision wasn’t made lightly. After thoughtful conversations, prayerful reflection, and feedback, we believe this shift will create a more meaningful and lasting experience for our students. Our hope is not simply that youth complete Confirmation, but that they grow in their faith, feel connected to the church, and begin to understand what it means to follow Jesus in daily life. Over the course of three years, students will explore:

+ The Bible, Sacraments & Living Faith – how to read and use the Bible, key Bible stories and their meanings, what Baptism and Holy Communion mean, and how faith is lived out through prayer, worship, and acts of service.

+ Luther’s Small Catechism & Core Beliefs – foundational teachings like the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Apostles’ Creed, and how they help us understand God and guide our daily lives.

+ The Church, Vocation & the Holy Trinity – what it means to be part of a church community, how God calls us to serve others, and how Christians believe in one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

By spreading the content over three years, we’ll be able to create more space for relationship-building, discussion, hands-on learning, and real-life application. We believe this format will help our students not only learn about their faith but live into it.

We know this is a change, and with any change comes questions. If you have any, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We're so grateful for your continued support and encouragement as we walk alongside the young people of our congregation.

Please save these important dates:
+ Parent and student meeting: Sunday, September 7th, 2025, following worship (around 10:00 a.m.)
+ First day of Confirmation class: Wednesday, September 10th, 2025
+ Affirmation Sunday for 8th grade students: Sunday, May 3rd, 2026

Thank you for being a church that values, supports and invests in the next generation of believers.
